DELFI-TO-ON-PREMISES MIGRATION

Your move from SLB Delfi.
Managed from start to finish.

Virtu helps you plan and deliver a move from SLB Delfi to an on-premises subsurface environment. We build the business case with you, assess the right application set, migrate your data, train your people and manage the whole agreed solution through Onyx.

A clear case for change.

The starting point is your business: what you spend, what your team needs to achieve and what excellent service looks like. We identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve productivity, then compare the expected benefits with the full cost of moving and operating your own environment.

You invest in and own the hardware. Virtu designs, implements and continually manages the environment. Our revenue comes from implementation and the ongoing service; we earn no margin on your hardware investment.

Compare named-user subscriptions with shared licences.

Where your SLB Delfi agreement is based on named-user subscriptions, access is allocated to individual users rather than drawn from a shared concurrent licence pool. As part of the business case, we compare those terms with the floating or concurrent application licences available for your proposed Onyx environment.

For eligible applications, Onyx can support a pool of licences shared by authorised users, with simultaneous use limited to the purchased entitlement. This can reduce the need for a dedicated application licence for every person when the whole team does not need the same tools at once.

Options depend on the product, modules and vendor agreement. We verify sharing rights, hosting and location restrictions, transfer or conversion costs and peak demand before recommending a change. Moving to Onyx does not automatically convert named-user subscriptions into shared licences.

One coordinated migration service.

We are the team that pulls everything together: infrastructure, subsurface workflows, IT, commercial planning, operations, subsurface vendor management and customer support. We coordinate the people, suppliers and decisions across the whole solution, from building the business case to running the service.

01

Build your business case

Assess current platform, application and support costs alongside the way your users work. Set out the hardware investment, licensing, migration, training and ongoing management costs, with savings opportunities, assumptions and agreed productivity goals.

02

Match applications to your workflows

Review the Petrel capabilities your team actually uses and assess application sets against those requirements. Consider retaining Petrel where appropriate, alongside alternative or complementary tools. Compare functionality, licensing, data compatibility and interoperability, and validate representative workflows with your users before selecting the set.

03

Design and implement the environment

Plan and configure customer-owned workstations, compute, storage and access around the selected applications and workloads. Agree security, backup, recovery, supplier responsibilities and service levels as part of the solution.

04

Migrate and validate your data

Inventory projects and datasets, confirm export requirements and permissions, and agree transfer methods with the relevant suppliers. Test compatibility and any required conversion, validate completeness and usability with your team, and plan cutover and rollback around business continuity.

05

Prepare your people

Produce training materials and practical sessions tailored to the agreed application set and your workflows. Support users through testing, onboarding and the move into everyday work, with guidance they can return to after go-live.

06

Manage the whole solution

Coordinate the migration plan, suppliers, dependencies and user acceptance. After go-live, Onyx provides ongoing operation, maintenance, application and data management, and specialist user support within the agreed scope. Review performance, costs and service outcomes with you as the business evolves.

A plan you can approve. A service you can rely on.

You receive a documented business case, an agreed application and infrastructure design, a migration and training plan, and a clear ongoing service scope. Costs, responsibilities, acceptance criteria and delivery milestones are agreed before implementation.

The goal is lower costs, more productive users and excellent service, with an accountable partner from the first assessment through to day-to-day operation.
